Upcoming Events, Spring 19′

We are getting ready for a busy spring here at Heartland Baptist Church. It all starts with our 11th annual Tent Revival happening on the front lawn of our St Joseph property June 2nd through 7th. The whole community is welcome and encouraged to attend. The Bible says in 2 Chronicles 7:14  If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
America could certainly use a revival, why shouldn’t it start in the “heartland” of America?

Resurrection Sunday – April 21, 2019

The Pinnacle of the Christian faith is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The miracle of miracles that makes following Jesus Christ different than following any other religious leader.

This year we will once again offer a Sunrise Service at 6 a.m. for those who want to do as Mary did and come early. There will be special music and a special message.

We will also again be serving breakfast following the early service at about 7:00 A.M. until 8:30 A.M. There will be various dishes brought by the members and friends but expect things like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, gravy, biscuits, juice, coffee… well, you get the idea.

We will have a second morning service at 9 A.M. The message will be different than the one at the early service so stick around and hear more about the risen Lord.

There will be NO evening service this Sunday as the families of the church will be gathering in their homes to fellowship and spend time together.

Church, what is the point?

Come to Sunday School and Find out!

Growing up going to church it almost seemed like living two lives, and the “church” part of living didn’t seem to have much to do with the “life” part of living. The Bible tells us that Christ died for the church in Ephesians 5:25 and that makes it sound so much more relevant than how it seemed to me and apparently how it is for many people today. God had a very good reason for establishing the church and had plans for how it would bless and help us through the “life” part of living, but somewhere, somehow, we have missed it. Either we have messed up “church” or we don’t know how to apply or incorporate it in life. My suspicion is that both are true; church today has been so mingled with the traditions of the world that it does resemble, nor does it have the power and potential that the church that Jesus started had and, we have been so distracted by the “life” side of living that we no longer know how the “church” applies.

Over the next couple of months during Sunday School at 10 a.m. I plan to address what church is supposed to be and how it is supposed to affect life.

Spring Forward

Don’t forget to set your clocks forward before going to bed Saturday night March 9 or you may miss Sunday School, or worse…You might end up walking in on the Closing prayer of the 11 a.m. service thinking that we are about to start. Wouldn’t that be embarrassing?

Winter Weather March 3, 2019 and a prayer request

4:50 update:
We will have service this evening.

12:30 update:
So, apparently not everyone checks this site…
So many showed up at the end of 10 a.m. service that we went ahead and had church at 11 too.  Check the roads and this page.  If weather permits I’ll preach at 6 p.m. the last one another message.

9:40 update:
We are going to have one service at 10 a.m.  IF anyone shows up.  11 a.m. and 6 p.m. service canceled.

8:20 UPDATE:
Road conditions are good currently. Even side roads are in very good conditions. There does seem to be a band of heavy snow headed our direction so please use caution especially on bridges and overpasses as time passes conditions may worsen.

With Snow falling this morning we will continue with our scheduled services. PLEASE use caution if you head out. I will be taking a test drive to check road conditions again between 8:30 and 9 a.m. and will update this page if conditions cause me to change coarse.

Sermons from last week have been posted to our sermons page for those who do not wish to brave the cold and snow.

Later this week Rachel will be headed to Alabama and Louisiana for meetings. Please pray for her and Kayla as they travel and meet with churches.

Couples Night/Youth Activity

New Date: Friday March 1

Pictures taken at the couples dinner. Feel free to use/print images as you see fit.

This coming Friday evening at 6:30 we will host a couples night out and a youth activity.

Couples will be enjoying a Western Theme with Fried Chicken and all the fixins in the fellowship hall. A guest speaker will give a short inspirational message about unity and oneness in marriage. All couples welcome! A call to the church office to R.S.V.P. would be helpful so that we have enough food. There will be an opportunity to have your picture taken with your spouse, door prizes, laughs, and games.

R.S.V.P. (573) 547-8960

Youth Activity:
While the couples are meeting there will be games and fun activities for young people below. We have been working to remodel and prepare space for youth ministry. It is still a work in progress, but we would like to start the fun on Friday February 15 by inviting youth (up to pre-teens) from our community to come join us. There will be pizza served (an R.S.V.P. would also be helpful).

If you would like to join us let us know so we can order enough pizza! (573) 547-8960

Winter Weather 2-10-19

Heartland Baptist Church will have morning services this morning. The road conditions are good on main roads. Secondary roads are good with the exception of a few spots. County roads are fair with the exception of areas where trees are shading the road from the south side. The most treacherous locations seem to be between the house and the car. Please use caution if you are coming to the services this morning.
