Giving Thanks

Psa 105:1-5  O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.  (2)  Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.  (3)  Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. (4)  Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.  (5)  Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

Thanksgiving Banquet

For the past seventeen years we have invited the community to join us in giving thanks on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.  It has been a great time and opportunity to share the blessings of the previous year with each other as well as enjoy a wonderful meal together.  This year we are again inviting the community to join us for the celebration.

There won’t be anything fancy but should you decide to join us you will find good food and friendly people.  In the old facilities we could only plan for 50 to 60, but now that the Lord has provided the new building we have plenty of room for 100-120 folks to join us.

We will open the doors at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21.  Opening prayer will take place about 6:15 and we will begin going through the buffet line.  The meal is always pot-luck style with the whole church family pitching in their favorites. Guests are welcome to join in by bringing their favorites as well.

Following the meal there will be opportunities to give thanks to the Lord for what He has done in your life or for you and a brief thanksgiving message by our pastor.

If someone in our community would like to attend but does not have transportation please call the church office to arrange to be picked up in time for the meal.

The Will of God

Last Sunday evening I delivered a message to the congregation of Heartland Baptist Church that I believe is very important.  The truth is God’s desire (will) for each person is good.  He is not out to get us or seeking to condemn us, 2 Peter 3:9 tells us that “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”  And John 3:17 says, “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

In the first chapter of Ephesians Paul shares that God’s will for us is good and that everything God allows or brings into our lives is good.  It was God’s will that Paul become an apostle.  God willed grace and peace to us, all blessings for us, and chose to allow us to come before Him blameless and in Love.  God willed our adoption into the family of God and made us accepted.  He chose to redeem and forgive us and cause his blessings to abound toward us.  God willed that in the future (in the fullness of time) that we come before him to receive an inheritance.  God’s will toward us is very good.

Listen to the full message and understand that there is only one thing that can cut off the goodness of God’s will your life.
